The final day of the MXGP of Portugal, held at the Águeda International Crossodrome, featured the decisive races of the MXGP and MX2 World Championship classes, as well as the concluding rounds of the EMX125 and EMX250 European Championships. Unlike previous editions, the event took place under warm and dry conditions, with the circuit presented in outstanding shape. Several modifications to the track layout, including changes to the former waves section and the relocation of the finish-line arch closer to the main grandstand, contributed to highly competitive racing throughout the day.
MXGP
Lucas Coenen claimed victory in the opening MXGP race after leading confidently from the early laps to the chequered flag. The young Belgian rider finished ahead of Jeffrey Herlings, while Romain Febvre completed the podium in third place.
Jeffrey Herlings responded in style in Race 2. After quickly moving into second place, the Dutch rider passed Lucas Coenen on lap eight and took control of the race, gradually extending his advantage before crossing the finish line with a margin of around seven seconds.
Lucas Coenen once again finished second, with Romain Febvre securing another third-place finish. Tim Gajser took fourth, while Ruben Fernandez rounded out the top five.
With these results, Jeffrey Herlings secured the overall victory at the MXGP of Portugal, ahead of Lucas Coenen and Romain Febvre.
Portuguese rider Luís Outeiro, the only national representative competing in the World Championship classes, was forced to retire from the opening race due to a rear shock absorber issue. He returned for Race 2 and finished 21st.
MX2
In the MX2 class, Guillem Farrés Plaza was the dominant rider of the Portuguese round, winning both races in Águeda.
In the opening race, the Spanish rider finished ahead of Janis Reisulis and Simon Längenfelder, while Sacha Coenen recovered to sixth after crashing on the opening lap.
Farrés repeated his performance in Race 2, taking victory ahead of Sacha Coenen and Liam Everts to secure the overall win at the MXGP of Portugal. Despite finishing second overall, Sacha Coenen retains the lead of the MX2 World Championship standings.
EMX125
Ricardo Bauer claimed victory in the second EMX125 race, securing both the overall win in Portugal and moving up to second place in the championship standings. Sleny Goyer finished second overall, while Bertram Thorius completed the podium.
