MXGP and MX2 riders got their first feel of the Águeda circuit.
Everything is set for a weekend that promises to deliver high emotion and thrilling racing.
The roar of MXGP Championship bikes was already heard this Friday at the Águeda International Motocross Circuit. The world’s top motocross riders had their first outing on the track, in the build-up to the seventh round of the World Championship.
The first laps for MXGP and MX2 riders came during the traditional start practices, which allowed them to fine-tune their bikes and assess the track conditions they’ll be facing throughout the weekend.
Saturday is reserved for free practice and qualifying sessions. For the MXGP and MX2 classes, the qualifying races award valuable championship points. In EMX250 and EMX125, Saturday also features the first motos of the weekend.
The MXGP World Championship arrives in Águeda at a thrilling stage of the season, with both the MXGP and MX2 title races wide open.
The MXGP championship is currently led by Tim Gajser, who will not be competing in Portugal due to injury. Gajser sits at 305 points, followed by Romain Febvre with 278. Febvre and the other front-runners will be looking to capitalise on Gajser’s absence.
The MX2 championship is just as tight — Kay de Wolf leads with 281 points, only three ahead of Simon Laengenfelder in second.
Tickets for the MXGP of Portugal are available online via BOL, and can also be purchased at physical outlets such as Fnac, Worten, CTT, El Corte Inglés, and other usual locations.
